VAIGHAI CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LIMITED, a Madurai based company received the award for “HIGHEST PROCESSORS OF RICE BRAN” in India from SEA (SOLVENT EXTRACTORS ASSOCIATION) the prime body that represents the Solvent Extractors in India. The company processed 1,38,500 MT of Rice Bran during the year 2008–2009.

VAIGHAI is the 1ST company in Tamil Nadu to receive this award. Vaighai Chemical Industries has 2 plants located in Madurai & Tirunelveli. The company procures Rice Bran from around 800 rice mills in a Tamil Nadu. Vaighai also imports Rice Bran from Sri Lanka.

India’s edible oil consumption is 11 million MT per annum. 50% of this requirement is being met through imports. Rice Bran oil is a major import substitution for edible oil.

The SEA also gave awards for highest processors & exporters of other edible oil.
